Product / UX Designer

At Magic Story we're looking for a Product / UX Designer to join our team.

Full-Time (Remote)

Competitive Salary + Equity + Benefits

About the job

Magic Story is revolutionizing the way people experience storytelling through advanced, hyper-personalized narratives. By blending cutting-edge AI with intuitive design, we empower families to create emotionally resonant stories where every child is the hero. Backed by Point72 Ventures and The House Fund, we’re growing fast and need a scrappy, up-and-coming designer who wants to own big problems, learn at startup speed, and craft experiences that feel magical, delightful, and effortless.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own the same product surface as a senior designer—just with more mentorship and room to grow.

Core Product & UX (primary focus)

  • Partner with product, engineering, marketing, and founders to map user journeys, scope MVPs, and ship features on web and mobile.

  • Design intuitive photo- and object-upload flows, AI-generated avatar customization, and real-time streaming previews.

  • Build in-app purchase & subscription flows that turn delighted users into paying fans.

  • Craft interactive storytelling mechanics—branching narratives, dynamic personalization, elegant error states.

  • Run quick user interviews & usability tests, synthesize insights, and iterate at high velocity.

  • Produce clean wireframes, prototypes, and pixel-perfect UI in Figma/Framer; pair closely with engineers to launch.

  • Help maintain and evolve our mobile + responsive-web design system, contributing new components as we scale.

  • Troubleshoot tough AI-driven edge cases with a curious, experimental mindset.

Growth & Marketing Design

  • Create top-of-funnel assets—ad creatives, motion spots, landing pages, App Store clips, checkout flows.

  • Design lifecycle notifications and emails that keep families engaged.

  • Guard and extend Magic Story’s playful, wonder-filled visual language.

Branding, Print & Packaging

  • Support senior teammates in interior book layout and print-ready mockups; learn print specs (bleed, trim, color).

  • Ensure typography and color stay consistent across digital and print surfaces.

Who You Are

  • 0 – 4 years of professional product/UX experience — we’re equally excited about standout recent graduates from top-tier design or art schools who bring an exceptional portfolio and a hunger to learn.

  • Portfolio that shows strong visual craft and UX thinking—even if the projects were small or self-initiated.

  • Comfortable in Figma and at least one interactive-prototyping tool (Framer, Principle, ProtoPie, etc.).

  • Eager to master AI-driven workflows—streaming content, progressive loading, multi-step interactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and iterate on user flows that drive engagement or monetization (side projects count!).

  • Deep empathy for kids, parents, and families—or a genuine passion to learn the space.

  • Growth mindset: you crave feedback, ask questions, and turn ambiguity into action.

  • Thrives in a high-energy startup where priorities shift and “done is better than perfect.”

Bonus experience (not required): children’s media, gaming, ed-tech, storytelling, or any print/packaging work.

Why Join Us

  • Accelerated growth curve—address Lead-level problems with direct mentorship from founders and senior teammates.

  • Own end-to-end features that impact families worldwide; no “junior ticket factory” here.

  • Work in a mission-driven team that values creativity and craft, with full remote flexibility.

  • Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and a professional-development stipend to attend conferences, buy books, or take courses.
