Competitive Salary + Equity + Benefits

About the job

Magic Story is revolutionizing the way people experience storytelling through advanced, hyper-personalized narratives. By blending cutting-edge AI with intuitive design, we’re empowering users to create deeply meaningful, emotionally resonant stories personalized around their lives and experiences. Backed by Point72 Ventures and The House Fund, we’re growing fast and looking for a talented, visionary UX designer who can craft experiences that feel magical, delightful, and effortless.

What You’ll Do

Core Product & UX (primary focus)

  • Lead end‑to‑end product and UX strategy across mobile and web, partnering with product, engineering, marketing, and founders to define features and user journeys.

  • Design intuitive photo and object upload flows with background removal, tagging, and labeling.

  • Integrate AI‑generated avatars and content so users can customize effortlessly and explore multiple creative options.

  • Create real‑time streaming experiences—responsive loading states, live previews, and error‑tolerant UI for variable AI output.

  • Design in‑app‑purchase & subscription management features that maximize conversion and retention.

  • Craft interactive storytelling mechanics for branching, personalized narratives.

  • Conduct qualitative & quantitative research with parents and kids, iterate rapidly, and validate with usability testing.

  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI in Figma/Framer, collaborating closely with engineers for pixel‑perfect delivery.

  • Define and scale a mobile + responsive‑web design system that keeps product and marketing surfaces visually consistent.

  • Tackle complex AI design challenges—gracefully handling uncertainty, edge cases, and model quirks.

Growth & Marketing Design

  • Create full‑funnel marketing assets—ad creatives, motion spots, landing pages, app clips and checkout flows—to drive acquisition and conversion.

  • Design lifecycle notifications and other retention touchpoints that deepen engagement.

  • Guard and evolve Magic Story’s visual language so every surface conveys storytelling, playfulness, and wonder.

Branding, Print & Packaging Design

  • Design interior page layouts and print‑ready mockups that translate digital magic into beautifully crafted storybooks.

  • Own typography, color, and brand consistency across print assets, packaging, and any special inserts, coordinating with production partners on specs (bleed, trim, color profiles).

Who You Are

  • 5+ years leading UX / product design for consumer web and mobile products.

  • Mastery of Figma and interactive‑prototyping tools (Framer, Principle, ProtoPie).

  • Fluent in asynchronous, AI‑driven workflows—streaming content, progressive loading, multi‑step interactions.

  • Proven at designing complex user journeys—including subscriptions, in‑app purchases, and premium feature sets.

  • Strong visual designer with a sharp eye for layout, typography, and color who elevates every screen and page.

  • Portfolio showcasing cutting‑edge digital work, clever problem‑solving, and—bonus—print or packaging projects.

  • Deep empathy for kids, parents, and families—ideally backed by experience in children’s education, gaming, storytelling, or interactive media.

  • Exceptional communicator comfortable giving & receiving feedback across disciplines.

  • Passionate, curious, and unafraid to ask the hard questions that lead to great design.

  • Highly motivated self‑starter, comfortable thriving in a fast‑paced, startup environment.

Why Join Us

  • Opportunity to design and shape a product poised to redefine storytelling globally.

  • Shape design strategy from the ground up alongside a small, mission‑driven team that obsesses over craft.

  • Full autonomy & flexibility—work remote, set process, choose tools, influence roadmap.

  • Competitive salary, meaningful equity and professional‑development stipend.
